Violet - Evening Botany Risograph Print

by Brad Pyne Design

Soy-based Ink on paper

12 by 16 inches

Illustrated flowers with hand-drawn typography. Each flower is printed using 3-colour risograph with overlapping colours to create shading and detail. Due to the risograph printing process, large fields of colour may appear slightly uneven. With enough effort, the ink may smudge or come off on your fingers.

A slang term for gay men used to be "Evening Botanists" because of their penchant for hanging out in parks at night... Based on that moniker, I've illustrated 4 queer-coded flowers in a series called: Evening Botany.

Violet: The Greek poet Sappho, residing on the isle of Lesbos, often referenced violets in her poems, creating their association with female love.
